Our History
Established in 2006, Mariner Beverages has grown to become Maine's largest "independent" wholesale distributor of wine and beer. The company was founded by Tim Wissemann. Prior to starting Mariner, Tim owned and operated a retail beverage store in Portland. He watched the consolidation of other distributors and their product offerings and saw there was an opportunity to bring more diverse wines and beers into Maine for distribution. Since then the company has expanded/relocated three times and has now purchased a temperature controlled warehouse with a large drive in cooler in the Riverside Industrial Parkway. We now have seven delivery vehicles ranging from a cargo van to a 26 foot straight truck. We offer weekly delivery service from the New Hampshire Border to Mount Desert Island which constitutes a majority of the population of the state of Maine. In early 2014, Mariner continued to grow by absorbing another distributor, DaVine Wines. All of the team is enthusiastic about wine and beer as well as the food that best pairs with it.
